Castroville, Monterey County California

Castroville, Monterey County, PO 10 miles north of Salinas. This is a thriving town, situated at the foot of the great Salinas valley, and near the entrance of the Salinas River to the Bay of Monterey.

It is three miles east of Moss Landing, the usual name of the port the entrepot of an extensive and fertile section, enjoying a large trade with San Francisco by means of light draft steam and sailing vessels, as well as the S P R R, which passes through it.

One newspaper, the Castroville Argus, is published weekly.
